DUI TASK FORCE | Facts and figures The Mahoning County District Board of Health makes these points about impaired driving:

Many otherwise law-abiding citizens continue to view impaired driving merely as a traffic offense, but impaired driving is no accident nor is it a victimless crime.
Impaired driving randomly kills someone in America every 30 minutes.
Those who refuse a blood alcohol concentration test can lose their license on the spot and have their car impounded.
In 2003, 463 people were killed in Ohio in alcohol-related crashes, nearly 36 percent of the 1,278 total traffic fatalities. In 2002, the state had 482 alcohol-related traffic fatalities.
From 2001 through 2003, Mahoning County recorded 990 alcohol-related crashes, with 24 fatalities. Nearly 60 percent of the crashes occurred in Youngstown, Boardman and Austintown.
