YOUNGSTOWN -- Steven Sebastian, 38, of Sciota Street was arrested at 1 a.m. Sunday outside the East Side Civics Club on South Avenue on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, illegal possession of a weapon inside a liquor establishment, possession of cocaine and obstructing official business. Police said they had watched Sebastian enter the bar and leave it, as if escorting patrons out, and each time he held his waistband. Sebastian was then seen arguing, pulling a gun from his waistband and waiving it at a man in the parking lot, police said. Police confiscated a loaded .357-caliber handgun from Sebastian and, at the jail, three packages of suspected cocaine were found on him, reports show. Reports don't say if he works for the club.
Theft at Dairy Mart
YOUNGSTOWN -- A thief went shopping for breakfast foods Sunday evening at the Dairy Mart on Mahoning Avenue. Two clerks told police they watched a man enter the store around 8:25 p.m., take items off the shelves, place them in his jacket and then run out. Taken from the store were three packages of cherry Pop Tarts, one package of Quaker Oats, three Folger's coffees and three Maxwell House coffees. In all, the items are worth $29.60. The store's security camera recorded the theft, and the tape will be reviewed by detectives.
Driver arrested
YOUNGSTOWN -- Felicia Wallace, 31, of Cain Street was identified as the driver of a 2000 green Jeep that hit two parked cars on Sherwood Avenue on Sunday evening, police said. Wallace wouldn't answer questions at the scene, became combative with police and had to be restrained by ambulance paramedics, reports show. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment and arrested there on charges of DUI, reckless operation and possession of marijuana. Police said suspected marijuana was found in her bra.
Geneva College leader
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (AP) -- Kenneth A. Smith will be inaugurated Saturday as the 19th president of 155-year-old Geneva College. Smith, 46, will replace John White, who last summer announced his retirement after 11 years at the helm of the 2,100-student college. Smith, a 1980 graduate of Geneva and member of its board of trustees for 10 years, has been chairman of the strategy and human resources department in the management school at Syracuse University. He has a master's degree in economic and social development from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate in strategic management from the University of Maryland.
