Walsh Jesuit's Ekey medalist among girls



COLUMBUS (AP) -- It was a banner day for Kathleen Ekey and Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit at the girls Division I state golf tournament on Saturday.
Ekey fired her second straight 2-over-par 73 to take medalist honors at the state championship. Her team finished with a two-round total of 673 to win the school crown.
Dublin Jerome carded a 681 to take second. Cincinnati St. Ursula posted the lowest score Saturday with a 337, finishing with a two-day total of 685 and third place.
Jonathan Bowers led Columbus Watterson to the Division I boys championship.
Bowers posted a 2-over 74 in the second round to finish second in the medalist chase.
Watterson carded a 629 team score to finish four strokes ahead of Cincinnati Moeller. Cincinnati St. Xavier was third with a 637.
Hamilton's Kyle Hodges took medalist honors. He followed up his even-par 72 with a 74 to finish three strokes ahead of Bowers.
