PUMPKIN PALS
Jack-o-lanternscan put a grinon your face
The Vindicator/William D. Lewis
A sure sign that Halloween is near is the sight of pumpkins being fashioned into jack-o-lanterns. Above, Lori Mowad of Poland, a volunteer with Friends of Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, helps her daughter, Rachel, 4, carve a pumpkin at the park's Davis Center. At right, Nancy Motosko of Poland, a Friends volunteer, looks into a finished jack-o-lantern. The picture was taken from inside the jack-o-lantern. Motsko and other Friends and park staff have decorated about 1,000 pumpkins, which will be on display from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Pumpkin Walk at Twilight at the gardens. Cider and doughnuts will be served at the event.
