Poland shuts out Ursuline
The Mooney boys blanked Hubbard 6-0.
POLAND -- Jackie Cavalier, Maureen Malone, Sarah Anderson and Colleen Moran each scored a goal as the Poland High girls soccer team defeated Ursuline 4-0 in a Division II sectional tournament final Saturday.
Poland advanced into a district semifinal Wednesday at 7 p.m. at home against Lakeview.
Laura Hassay, Heather Patrick and Anderson had an assist apiece for the Bulldogs (12-4-1).
Jackie Cardiero, goalkeeper for Ursuline (9-6-2), had 11 saves. Sam Stanich of the Bulldogs had three.
Lakeview 8, Pymatuning Valley 1
CORTLAND -- Alli Nero and Paige Poulis each scored three goals and each had an assist for the Bulldogs (12-5) in a Div. II sectional title match.
The Bulldogs' Niki Bevilacqua had a goal and two assists, while Britni Morello added a goal and an assist and Jen Baker had three assists.
Mooney 4, Newton Falls 0
STRUTHERS -- Kelli Willis and Marisa Simon each scored two goals to lead Cardinal Mooney to victory in a Div. II sectional tournament final.
Mooney (15-1-1) advanced to a district semifinal Wednesday against Champion at Tri-County Sports in Struthers at 7 p.m.
Simon, Sarah Garchar and Mimi Vitello each contributed one assist for Mooney, while goalies Natalie Humphreys and Veronica Skowron each had one save.
Newton Falls (8-7-2) goalie Grace Spletzer had 15 saves.
Champion 2, Warren JFK 1 (OT)
CHAMPION -- With less than three minutes remaining in the extra session, Brittany Bako scored the deciding goal for the Golden Flashes (10-4-4) in a Div. II sectional tournament final.
The Eagles (10-8) took a 1-0 lead at the break on a goal by Katie Piacquadio.
With just 17 seconds remaining in the match, Carlie Dawson scored to knot things up and force overtime.
West Branch 6, Salem 2
BELOIT -- Senior McKenzie Wallace and junior Ashley Kurena had two goals apiece, while Aimee Rice, a junior, and senior Shannon Gause had one apiece in a Div. II Kent Roosevelt High sectional championship game.
Senior Vanessa Kelly and junior Laci Meals scored the goals for Salem.
Wallace, Paige Stryffeler and Melanie Kiko had assists for West Branch (9-8), which plays its district semifinal at Chagrin Falls on Wednesday.

STRUTHERS -- Sophomore Dom DePasquale and senior Kiki Willis had two goals apiece as the Cardinal Mooney High boys soccer team defeated Hubbard 6-0 in a Div. II sectional tournament title game Saturday.
Zack Hernan, a junior, and Tom McBride, a freshman, added one goal apiece for Mooney (15-1-1).
Hernan and freshman Scott Blasko each had an assist for the Cardinals, who play in a district semifinal on Tuesday against Poland at 7 p.m.
Mooney goalie Jeff Seddon, a senior, had two saves.
Poland 7, Liberty 0
POLAND -- Steve Gavolas and Chris Juchno each scored twice, while Dain Malaniak, Michael Hallock and Lenny Liguore added one goal apiece for the Bulldogs, who out-shot the Leopards, 16-3.
Howland 1, West Branch 0
BELOIT -- Malik Mohammad scored on a penalty kick midway through the second half as the Tigers defeated West Branch in the Div. II tournament. Howland goalie Zack Roscoe had three saves. West Branch goalie Shane Young had five.
Heartland Christian 2, Mogadore Christian 1
TALLMADGE -- Blake Kozma and Derek Patterson each scored a goal for the Lions (10-4-3) for an Association of Christian International regional tournament title. Zach Chamberlain had an assist. Goalkeeper Cody Patterson of the Lions had 11 saves.
