OHIO STATE Ross earns one-game suspension

Columbus police say Ross was involved in an incident at a strip club last Sunday.
COMBINED DISPATCHES
COLUMBUS -- Ohio State coach Jim Tressel suspended senior running back Lydell Ross on Friday for one game for undisclosed reasons.
According to a Columbus police department spokesperson, Ross was allegedly involved in a theft by deception at a Columbus area strip club last Sunday.
The police report claims Ross used fake or expired chits that the club uses in lieu of cash. Ross has not been arrested or charged with a crime, the spokesperson said.
The suspension comes the same week that Ross said it was important for the Buckeyes to put the first half of the season behind them.
Last Saturday's loss at Iowa was Ohio State's third in a row, dropping the Buckeyes, 3-3 and 0-3 in the Big Ten, out of the top 25.
Silence
The suspension for today's Indiana game was announced in a news release from the university. Sports information director Steve Snapp declined further comment. An e-mail message was sent to Ross seeking comment.
Little yardage
Ross was averaging 57 yards a game and 3.6 yards per carry. He has scored three touchdowns while starting all six games and rushing for 343 yards on 94 carries.
He led the Buckeyes in rushing last year and scored 22 touchdowns and gained 1,864 yards in his first three seasons.
Ross was among six seniors who went to Tressel last week to request that underclassmen not be permitted to speak to reporters this week. Ross and the others met with reporters on Tuesday night.
"The main thing here is to be focused on what we want, which is to be successful the rest of the season," Ross said Tuesday. "You can no longer think about what's happened in the past. You have to think about what you want in the future. And that's success from now on."
With Ross out, the Buckeyes will likely give more carries to freshman Tony Pittman and seniors Branden Joe and Maurice Hall.
