Leones renew nuptial vows on anniversary



XLIBERTY TOWNSHIP -- Mr. and Mrs. Ray Leone of Liberty Township observed their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 23 by renewing their marriage vows and receiving a papal blessing at a noon Mass held at St. Edward Church, where they are members.
Afterward, a reception was held in their honor in Vincentian Hall at the church.
Hosts for the event were the couple's children and their spouses, Rosanne and Robert Casal and Dr. Raymond and Melanie Leone, all of Hudson; Mary Jo and Matthew Hardin of Mars, Pa.; Joseph Leone of San Francisco; and James and Denise Leone of Liberty. The family circle includes 13 grandchildren.
The former Louise Sferra and Mr. Leone were united in marriage Oct. 23, 1954, at the old St. Ann Church on West Federal Street, Youngstown.
Mrs. Leone retired in June 1993 from Youngstown State University, where she was an administrative secretary to the executive director of facilities.
Mr. Leone earned several medals during his service with the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. He was employed for 42 years in several departments at General Fireproofing Co., Youngstown, prior to retiring in 1980.
