Mount Union 41, Ohio Northern 27
ADA -- Zac Bruney passed for 327 yards and four touchdowns, and Mount Union scored the final 21 points to rally past Ohio Northern Saturday, extending two long winning streaks. It was the 101st consecutive regular-season win for the Purple Raiders (7-0, 6-0 Ohio Conference) and their 91st straight victory in the OAC, but it didn't come without some resistance from the Polar Bears (5-2, 4-2). Rick Ciccone ran 18 yards for a score to tie the score 27-all with 2:48 remaining in the third quarter, and Bruney threw two touchdown passes in the fourth to put the Raiders ahead. Bruney connected with Jason Cavell on a 90-yard touchdown pass -- Cavell's third TD reception of the game -- to give Mount Union a 34-27 lead with 12:47 remaining. Ciccone caught a 7-yard TD pass from Bruney with 1:53 to play. Bruney completed 17 of 27 passes without an interception, Ciccone rushed for 148 yards on 35 carries and Cavell had five catches for 184 yards.
Urbana 30, Malone 27
CANTON -- Mike Whittington caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Geron Stokes with eight seconds remaining to give Urbana the decision. Luther Henderson rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Knights (3-5, 3-1 Mid-States Football Association Mideast League), who have won three of their last four games. Brad Reifsnyder completed 18 of 31 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns for the Pioneers (3-4, 1-3). Eric Smith ran for 114 yards. Reifsnyder connected with Nyrell Knight for a 9-yard scoring play with 1:34 left to give Malone a 27-23 lead. Knight finished with five receptions for 54 yards and two scores. But Urbana responded with a 10-play, 56-yard drive, culminating in Whittington's score.
Waynesburg 51, Grove City 14
WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- Jeff Dumm threw for five touchdowns, three to Dominick Hunter to ignite Waynesburg. Dumm completed 20 of 26 passes for 290 yards with no interceptions for Waynesburg (5-2, 2-1 Presidents Athletic Conference). Grove City (3-5, 1-3) hung with Waynesburg early and led the game 14-10 midway through the second quarter before surrendering 41 straight points. Grove City scored on Adam Wargo's 27-yard run and a 5-yard run by Seth Fox. Waynesburg managed only a 21-yard field goal by Ben Popson and a 4-yard touchdown run by Eric Daniels before Dumm took control of the game late in the first half. Dumm threw 23 yards to Dennis Gearhart for a 16-14 Waynesburg lead then hit Hunter from 8 yards with 17 seconds left in the half to make it 23-14.
Allegheny 59, Hiram 0
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Mario Tarquinio tied a school record with five touchdowns. Tarquinio rushed for 186 yards on 24 carries. He scored on runs of 58, 3, 3, and 2 yards in the first quarter, as Allegheny (3-4, 2-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) built a 38-0 lead by halftime. Tarquinio scored his fifth touchdown on a 7-yard run in the third quarter. Hiram (0-7, 0-4) was held to 100 yards in total offense and turned the ball over three times. Allegheny also scored on runs of 13 and 7 yards by Jimmy Savage, a 1-yard run by Josh White, and a 38-yard field goal by Jason Black.
Edinboro 38, Slippery Rock 26
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Justin Bouch threw three touchdown for Edinboro. Edinboro (6-2, 4-1 PSAC West), ranked No. 25 in NCAA Division II, jumped out to a 14-0 lead with a pair of Bouch touchdown passes, 18 yards to Nate Eimer, and 3 yards to Justin Lipscomb. Bouch, who completed 16 of 28 passes for 170 yards, also threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Ed brown in the third quarter. Slippery Rock (3-6, 1-3) cut Edinboro's lead to 20-13 with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Nate Crookshank to Brandon Richardson, and a pair of field goals by Kody Robertson. Edinboro gained 419 yards, including 249 on the ground. Andre Burke led the Fighting Scots with 189 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries. He scored on a 60-yard run.
Wash. & amp; Jeff. 56, Bethany 0
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Scoring touchdowns on its first five possessions, W & amp; J built a 35-0 lead still in the first quarter. R. J. Zitzelsberger scored three touchdowns (13, 10 and 1 yards) as the Presidents defeated Bethany for the 22nd consecutive time, a series dating back to the 1983 season. Bethany is 0-7, 0-5 PAC; the Presidents are 8-0, 4-0. Bethany lost five interceptions.
Capital 20, Baldwin Wallace, 18
BEREA -- Tyler Kazee kicked a 34-yard field goal with 11:01 remaining to help Capital salvage a win after the Crusaders lost a 17-point lead. The Yellow Jackets (6-1, 5-1 Ohio Conference) scored 12 points in the second quarter and took an 18-17 with 4:45 remaining in third on Brandon Hedges' 18-yard touchdown run. Kazee's field goal gave Capital (6-1, 5-1) its first win at Baldwin-Wallace since 1987 and helped the Crusaders tie the Yellow Jackets for second place in the OAC. Hedges ran for 124 yards on 28 carries and also scored a 48-yard run with 10:24 left in the second quarter to pull the Yellow Jackets to 17-6. Baldwin-Wallace made it 17-12 when Mike DiAngelo threw a 48-yard TD pass to Gary Kopchak with 3:21 to go before halftime. Capital built a 17-0 lead in the first quarter. Kazee kicked a 33-yard field goal, Charlie Smith had a 2-yard touchdown run and Kive Kraft caught a 5-yard TD pass from Rocky Pentello.
John Carroll 24, Heidelberg 0
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS -- Tim Kay scored touchdowns on two of the three plays he handled the ball. The Blue Streaks (4-3, 4-2 OAC) held the 'Berg (0-7, 0-6) to 59 yards of offense on 46 plays. Heidelberg managed only 20 yards rushing on 27 carries and completed only 5 of 19 passes for 39 yards with three interceptions and five sacks. Kay's only reception was a 1-yard touchdown catch from Matt Martin in the first quarter. Kay also scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter and finished with 4 yards rushing on two carries.
