Agricultural Society still accepting applications
CANFIELD -- The application deadline for Mahoning County Agricultural Society director candidates is Tuesday.
Candidates must be members of the Mahoning County Agricultural Society and file a petition signed by at least 10 members of the society before the deadline. Petitions must be obtained from the Canfield Fair secretary or fair manager.
The annual meeting for election of directors will be from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Colonial Inn on the Canfield Fairgrounds.
ODOT plans open house to discuss I-680 bridges
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Department of Transportation will conduct a public open house meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Davis Education and Visitors Center at Mill Creek Park's Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave. concerning plans to rehabilitate six bridges on Interstate 680 at a cost of $8.4 million.
The two-year project, which will begin next June, will affect bridges on Wayne Avenue, Gibson, Steel and Wellington streets, and Shirley Road and the eastbound bridge ramp from I-680 to U.S. Route 62 northbound. Several of these bridges will be closed, and detours will be posted for varying durations.
Road closures
SOUTHINGTON -- Warren Burton Road will be closed at times during the next two weeks to allow the Trumbull County engineer to replace several culverts. Planned closures are from 7 am. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 1 to Nov. 3.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- State Route 258, known as Butler Pike, will be closed for pipe replacement during the daylight hours Monday from North Liberty Road to the Mercer-Butler County line, the Pennyslvania Department of Transportation said. Detour routes will be posted.
