Actors for Halloween
GIRARD -- Leonard Lies from George Romero's "Dawn Of The Dead" and Tom Tully from "The Mothman Prophecies" are among the movie actors expected at "The Halloween Horror Show" event from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Movie Gallery, 600 N. An updated director's cut version of "Dawn of the Dead," starring Mekhi Phifer and Ving Rhames, will be available this week on DVD from Universal.
"Halloween Horror Show" is a preview to Dark Xmas 2004, a science fiction and horror convention that will be Nov. 12-14 at Comfort Inn, 136 N. Park Ave., Warren. Many more actors will appear at that event.
Dinner and concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- A concert by singer, songwriter and guitarist Eric Vincent of Paris will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in Kilcawley Center Chestnut Room at Youngstown State University. Vincent will perform songs by James Taylor that have been translated into French.
In conjunction with the concert, Le Cercle Francais and YSU Department of Foreign Languages will sponsor a French dinner of beef burgundy or chicken breast with mushroom sauce at 6 p.m. in the Ohio Room.
To make reservations for the dinner and concert, send checks for $28 to Le Cercle Francais, P.O. Box 1464, Youngstown, Ohio 44501, and designate the choice of entree. Deadline is Friday. Concert-only tickets cost $10 and must be reserved by Nov. 4.

Le Cercle Francaise of Northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Ensemble to perform
WARREN -- Pointless Orchestra, a multicultural ensemble, will perform at 8 p.m. Nov. 3 at Kent State University Trumbull Campus, 4314 Mahoning Ave. N.W. Admission is free.
The group utilizes instruments from around the world to create a unique combination of sounds that are both modern and ancient.
Musicians Mike Hovancsek, David Badagnani and Mark Allender will incorporate dance, film and other multimedia elements into their program. Joining the ensemble for the concert will be Joe Culley.
Model railroad open house planned
AUSTINTOWN -- See how a model railroad is constructed from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 6, 7, 13 and 14 at Youngstown Model Railroad Association's Fall Open House, at Raccoon and Four Mile Run roads. The club's HO scale train layout is being renovated to create a steel mill complex. O scale trains also will be on display. Admission is $3 per person. Children under age 12 will be admitted free when accompanied by adults.
Sweet Adelines concert scheduled
MINERAL RIDGE -- The Sweet Adelines Spirit of the Valley Chapter will appear in concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at Mineral Ridge High school, state Route 46.
Also performing during the concert will be Impulse, a male quartet, and several other well-known quartets.
Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children at the door.
Concert for veteransslated Nov. 7
NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Youngstown Symphony Chorus will present a concert in honor of fallen veterans at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road.
Don S. Megahan will direct the program, which will feature "Requiem" by Maurice Durufl & eacute;.
