PREP SOCCER TOURNAMENT Snyder's three goals lead Ursuline past Badger in Division II sectional
The Irish advance to meet Poland on Saturday at 4 p.m.
KINSMAN -- Hannah Snyder scored three goals, while Bridgette Celio added a goal and an assist for the Ursuline High girls soccer team, which defeated host Badger 5-1 in a Division II sectional semifinal on Wednesday.
Katelyn Tondo-Steele also scored for the Irish (9-5-1), who will play at Poland at 4 p.m. Saturday. Leann Jordon, Kaila Buckley and Dana Hinebaugh added assists and Jolanta Carkido had three saves.
Cayla Arnold scored for Badger (12-5) and Hayley Jenkins had 10 saves.
Warren JFK 5, Bristol 0
WARREN -- Katie Piacquadio had two goals and two assists for Kennedy, while Lexie Polivka and Kelly Kovac also scored.
Jenn Natale and Genna Roman added assists for the Eagles (10-7), who will play at Champion at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Kylie Robertson stopped 13 shots for Bristol (6-6-2).
Champion 8, Liberty 0
CHAMPION -- Eliza Slama scored two goals and had two assists for the Golden Flashes (9-4-4).
Carlie Dawson, Danielle Bufanno, Jenna Lee, Brittany Thomas, Brittany Skeels and Brittany Bako each added a goal for the Flashes, who outshot Liberty 33-1.
Zoe Snidermen had 20 saves for Liberty.
Lakeview 5, Hubbard 1
CORTLAND -- Alli Nero had two goals and an assist, while Paige Poulis had a goal and an assist for Lakeview, which took a 3-1 halftime lead.
Kasey Baker and Jen Baker also scored goals for the Bulldogs (11-5), who will play host to Pymatuning Valley at 4 p.m. Saturday. Britni Morello added an assist and Lindsey Mellott had 10 saves.
Christina Adams scored for Hubbard (4-8-1). Tressa Scahill and Tina Takash combined for six saves.
Newton Falls 3, Girard 1
GIRARD -- Morgan Tondo scored for Girard to give the Indians a 1-0 lead in the first half before Newton Falls roared back after halftime.
Courtney Collins, Mary Jo Spletzer and Allie Fetterolf scored a goal apiece for Newton Falls, while Jenna Cariglio, Casee Piquet and Collins had assists for the winners (8-6-3).
Ashley Esposito had five saves for Girard, while Newton Falls goalie Grace Spletzer stopped four shots.
The Tigers face Mooney on Saturday at Tri-County Sports.
