Sweden will announcemusic prize next week
STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- The winner of the annual Polar Music Prize, Sweden's biggest music award, will be announced Monday, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music said.
Besides the prestige conferred on the winners, the prize also includes a cash award of $137,043. The award was founded in 1989 by Stig Anderson, manager of Swedish pop group ABBA, through a donation to the academy.
The prize is typically split between pop artists and classical musicians. Previous winners include Paul McCartney, Isaac Stern, Bruce Springsteen, Pierre Boulez and Quincy Jones.
'The Producers' losesDreyfuss as its star
Richard Dreyfuss has withdrawn from the U.K. stage run of the Broadway hit musical "The Producers" because of back surgery and a shoulder injury, reports BBC Online.
Dreyfuss, 56, had been due to star in the Mel Brooks show when it opens in London's West End on Nov. 9.
It was difficult for him "to fulfill the rigors of the role," a statement said.
The role of Max Bialystock will be filled by Nathan Lane, who won a Tony award for playing the role when the musical opened on Broadway.
Dreyfuss, star of "Jaws" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," won the best actor Oscar for the 1977 film "The Goodbye Girl."
In a statement about his departure, the show's producers said the actor had surgery for a herniated disc in January and had suffered from a recurring shoulder injury.
Dreyfuss recently joked during rehearsals that his body was suffering from the demands of the part. "The trouble is, I'm not actually here. I am here in London but my body hasn't actually arrived yet," he said.
Letterman's anticsdon't make sense to J.Lo
Jennifer Lopez was left stunned during an appearance on David Letterman's talk show last week when the comedian sprayed her perfume into his mouth, reports IMDB.com.
J.Lo appeared on his show to promote her movie "Shall We Dance?" when Letterman pulled out her fragrances Glow and Still from behind his desk. After making inquiries about them, he opened a bottle of Still and squirted the fragrant contents into his mouth.
"Dave, what are you doing?" Lopez screamed.
Letterman gulped it down and commented, "That's pretty good. That's nice; I like that. I think this is a great idea because I've always commented on how nice you smell when you come out on the show and now the whole world can smell this way."
Wild, weird Angelinavoted 'sexiest woman'
Angelina Jolie, who manages to mesmerize men -- and fight off robot invaders -- with just one eye in her most recent movie, has been named the "sexiest woman alive" in the latest edition of Esquire magazine.
Jolie, featured as the alluring, courageous fighter pilot with an eye patch in "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," was the top pick of the magazine's editors and mostly male readers to grace the cover of Esquire's annual Women We Love issue.
The 29-year-old Jolie, who also lends her voice and sexy persona to a vampish fish named Lola in the computer-animated undersea adventure "Shark Tale," received 7 percent of all votes cast by readers.
Halle Berry ran a close second with 6 percent, while newlywed pop princess Britney Spears made the cut this year at No. 3.
In the Esquire interview, Jolie acknowledged her image as being "kind of wild or bad or weird or crazy."
"The tattoos, the blood, cutting myself -- it's all very much who I am," she said. "If you knew me privately, you might think I was even wilder than my reputation. But I'm also much softer. I'm a soft woman. Softer than people think."
Jolie doesn't sound all that soft in a recent interview with Allure magazine, however, in which she talks about her experience with S & amp;M.
"A lot of my relationships just weren't honest enough," she says. "So I took them down different paths toward violence or wildness ... to try to find somebody to hold me down and make me feel.
"It's really about trust," she continues. "I like to push boundaries, both emotional and sexual, with another person. That's when I've felt the sexiest. I've been in both submissive and dominant roles because I want more."
Her would-be suitors should know something else. "I've never been tied up," she says. "I have a feeling the person that does it will be The One. I think that's what I'd like."
