Irish rout Crestview, will face Warren JFK



Ursuline had a balanced attack in its tournament opener.
STRUTHERS -- Vlad Lungu and Ryan Novotny each had two goals and an assist, as the Ursuline High boys soccer team took a 5-0 halftime lead and went on to an 8-0 win over Crestview in a Division III sectional opener Monday at Tri-County Sports Complex.
Nick Chaney also scored twice, while Tales Gozzi had a goal and an assist for the Irish (8-6-2). Jimmy Hagan added a goal and Chris DePaolo, Corey Mihaly and Tommy Metzinger had assists.
Metzinger had three saves for Ursuline, which outshot the Rebels 26-4. The Irish will play at Warren JFK at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Ursuline and JFK tied 1-1 in their first meeting this season. Ursuline won the second meeting 3-0.
Columbiana 5, Maplewood 1
COLUMBIANA -- David Jackson collected two goals and an assist, while Kyle Martin, Eric Ostrander and Jeff Harold each scored a goal for the Clippers.
Galvin Cooper and Ostrander each had an assist and Ryan Guy stopped eight shots.
Columbiana will play at Badger Thursday.
United 3,Orrville Kingsway Christian 0
HANOVERTON -- Austin Dangler scored three goals and Ben Stryffeler added an assist.
Spencer Widlicka recorded six saves as United outshot Kingsway 29-7.
United (6-6-4) will play at third-seeded Waterloo Thursday.
Kingsway Christian is 4-7-1.

UNIONTOWN -- Uniontown Lake shut out Warren Harding 4-0. No other results were reported.
Girls
POLAND -- Maureen Malone scored two goals as Poland edged Salem 2-1 in a regular season Metro Athletic Conference game.
Jackie Cavalier had an assist for the Bulldogs (11-4-1, 7-3), who outshot Salem 8-4. Sam Stanich had four saves.
Laci Meals scored the only goal for the Quakers (7-8-1, 5-4-1). Abi Sequin had four saves.
