Where to get them
The Mahoning County District Board of Health has listed these places and times for flu shots:
Friday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Old North Church, 7105 Herbert Road, Canfield.Oct. 26: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Boardman Township Building, 8299 Market St., Boardman.Oct. 29: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown.
Those eligible to receive the vaccine must meet at least one of these requirements:
65 years old or older or 6 months to 23 months old.Have a chronic illness such as cancer, diabetes, heart, lung or kidney disease.A child between 2 and 18 on aspirin therapy.Pregnant women who will be in their second or third trimester during flu season.Parents and caregivers of infants younger than 6 months old.Cost of the shots is $15 each. Medicare recipients must bring their Medicare cards. Recipients should wear clothing that allows easy access to their upper arms.
Giant Eagle is hosting flu shot clinics at the following locations:
Oct. 21: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Niles Giant Eagle, 48 Vienna Ave.Oct. 22: 3 to 7 p.m., Jamestown Giant Eagle, 2700 Mahoning Ave., N.W., Warren.Oct. 27: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Salem Giant Eagle, 2401 E. State St.Oct. 30: 3 to 7 p.m., Boardman Giant Eagle, 478 Boardman-Canfield Road.Shots will be available only for people considered higher risk. Cost is $20 per shot. People with Medicare Part B, non-HMO plans, can obtain the shot for free.
