MAHONING COUNTY Events at YSU promote peace

The grandson of Mahatma Gandhi will be at YSU.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Guest speakers will discuss civil-rights issues and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s work in separate programs to promote peace.
George Martin will focus on "The Reality of United States Occupation in Iraq" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Peace Action Youngstown headquarters, 204 Broadway Ave. A potluck dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Martin is the organizer of the Peace Voter '04 campaign for Peace Action for a Sane World, a national, grass-roots organization.
His activism began during the Civil Rights Movement in the United States when he was a teen-ager working with King. He is program director for Peace Action Wisconsin and a member of the steering committee for United for Peace and Justice, a peace coalition.
Last January, Martin represented UFPJ on a fact-finding trip to Iraq to listen to how the Iraqi people felt about occupation and their future.
