BRISTOL -- Firefighters are investigating a blaze that damaged a clubhouse and golf carts. The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. Sunday at the Bristol Woods Golf Course clubhouse, 7108 state Route 45. No injuries were reported.
Man reports beating
GIRARD -- A Belgrade Avenue man told police he was awakened Sunday morning by someone beating him with a beer bottle. The man said he was asleep on the couch at a friend's South Davis Street home when he woke up around 2:50 a.m. Sunday and saw a man he knew holding a beer bottle over his head. The Belgrade Avenue man said he was hit in the head several times with the bottle, which police recovered at the scene. The homeowner told officers he was upstairs when he heard a commotion and came downstairs. He said the man who was beating his friend fled, and that he also noticed a Sony PlayStation video game console had been taken. Reports do not say what, if any, injuries the Belgrade Avenue man sustained.
Pedestrian killed
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Jeremy L. Lyons, 27, of Maple Drive died when he was struck by a car as he walked along Pa. Route 18 in West Salem Township, police said. Lyons was southbound near the Chestnut Street intersection when he was hit by a car driven by Daniel Minchoff of Coal Bank Road around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, police said. The impact carried Lyons, who was wearing dark clothing, some distance along the road. Cris Loutzenhiser, Mercer County deputy coroner, ruled the death an accident and said Lyons died of multiple trauma.
Candidates forum set
WARREN -- A candidates forum will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Warren YWCA. Participating will be candidates for 17th District Congress, 32nd District state senate, 64th and 65th District state representatives and Trumbull County commissioners. Questions will come from the audience. The event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by The League of Women Voters, Trumbull County, the Warren YWCA and A. Philip Randolph Institute.
Facing multiple charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jimmy Washington Jr., 41, of Cleveland was arrested around 1 a.m. Sunday on the South Side on charges of theft, making a false 911 call and obstruction of official business. Detective Sgts. Doug Bobovnyik and Bill Ross and Patrolman Carlo Eggleston were working a robbery detail on the South Side when Ross spotted Washington at a pay phone on South Avenue. Ross said Washington's physical description matched that of a suspect in several robberies. Detectives are expected to show his photograph to South Side business owners. Washington is accused of calling 911 and making a false report, which sent officers away from his location. When arrested after a brief chase, a frozen chicken dinner fell out of his coat. Police said they also found a bottle of soda, three sandwiches, candy bars and a pepperoni stick, most of which had been shoplifted from the Shell gas station on East Midlothian Boulevard.

LISBON -- Professional storyteller Denise Kellerman will present "Spooky Stories" at 4 p.m. Wednesday at The Lepper Public Library.
