KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City secured the top seed in the West. Josh Wolff scored in the 23rd minute for the Wizards (14-9-7). The MLS playoffs begin Oct. 22.
Revolution 2, Fire 1
FOXBORO, Mass. -- Steve Ralston scored the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute, and New England secured a spot in the playoffs. New England and Chicago finished tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference at 8-13-9. The Revolution advance to the postseason after winning the season series 2-1-1. Clint Dempsey scored in the 55th minute for New England, but Nate Jaqua quickly tied it on a header.
Earthquakes 2, Burn 2
DALLAS -- San Jose clinched the final playoff spot in the West. Dallas, who needed to defeat San Jose to make the playoffs, finished inches from victory when Cory Gibbs' header sailed over the crossbar on the game's final play. Brian Ching and Ramiro Corrales scored goals two minutes apart in the first half to give the Earthquakes a 2-1 lead. Oscar Pareja tied the score in the 62nd minute for the Burn.
Crew 1, Rapids 1
DENVER -- Duncan Oughton scored in the 41st minute, and Columbus extended its unbeaten streak to 18. John Henderson scored on a penalty kick for Colorado.
