Whitehead scores 3 touchdowns to lead Oregon past Arizona, 28-14

The Wildcats have lost five straight since winning their season opener.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Terrence Whitehead ran for three touchdowns to give the Oregon Ducks a 28-14 victory Saturday over the struggling Arizona Wildcats.
Demetrius Williams had nine catches for 153 yards for Oregon (3-3, 2-1 Pacific-10), while fullback Dante Rosario caught a 5-yard scoring pass from Kellen Clemens. Whitehead finished with 74 yards.
Clemens, who threw for three touchdowns and ran for three more in the Ducks' come-from-behind 41-38 victory over the Cougars last Saturday, led Oregon's offense efficiently for the second straight week.
He completed his first eight passes and finished 21-for-30 for 336 yards and a touchdown.
With a win last week against Washington State, the Ducks have put together back-to-back victories for the first time since last November.
Struggling
Arizona (1-5, 0-3) dropped its fifth straight game and hasn't won since its season opener against Northern Arizona.
The Wildcats fell behind 28-0 before scoring twice in the final two minutes. Gilbert Harris ran for a 2-yard score and backup quarterback Richard Kovalcheck found Brad Wood in the end zone with a 21-yard pass.
Arizona starting quarterback Kris Heavner struggled, completing just 9-of-24 passes for 79 yards, with two interceptions.
Kovalcheck, who came into the game in the final quarter and helped the Wildcats avoid the shutout, was 5-of-10 for 77 yards and a TD. He was intercepted once.
It was Oregon's sixth straight victory against Arizona overall, as well as the sixth consecutive win against the Wildcats at Autzen Stadium.
Whitehead ran for a pair of 1-yard scores in the first half, putting the Ducks up 14-0.
On the play just before Whitehead's first touchdown, first-year Arizona coach Mike Stoops vehemently argued what he felt was a Wildcat fumble recovery at the goal line -- to no avail.
Coming up short
The Wildcats came just short of tying the game on their next series when Heavner's fourth-down pass from the 2 to Clarence McRae was broken up by Ducks' linebacker Jerry Matson.
The Wildcats threatened again with less than a minute remaining in the half, driving to the Oregon 5, but Heavner's pass for Ricky Williams in the end zone was tipped by Anthony Trucks and intercepted by Aaron Gipson.
It was Gipson's second interception of the game. Heavner had been intercepted just twice in the Wildcats' first five games.
Whitehead added an 8-yard scoring run in the third quarter, and Rosario caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Clemens with 5:06 left in the game.
