Warren JFK golfers 10th after first day at state



COLUMBUS -- The Warren John F. Kennedy High boys golf team has a lot of ground to make up today.
In the opening round of the Division III state tournament Friday at Ohio State University, the Eagles placed 10th of 12 teams with 333 points.
Gahanna Columbus Academy leads the two-day event with 304.
Senior Pat Moro led JFK with an 80, while juniors Nick Moody and Matt Nuzzi had 84s, sophomore Scott Difford an 85 and junior Zack Bowen an 86.
Columbiana senior Jason Hall, who qualified as an individual, matched Moro with an 80.
Lima Central Catholic senior Paul Marshall was the first-round medalist with a 69. Also highlighting the first round was a hole-in-one by Cincinnati Seven Hills' Austin Derkson.
JFK is making its fourth appearance at the state tournament in the last five years. The Eagles won back-to-back titles in 2000-01 and finished runner-up in 2002.
