BUTLER, Pa. -- The Veterans Affairs Medical Center here will not give flu shots until further notice because it's out of serum, said Dave Virag, public affairs officer.
When more serum arrives, the VA will give shots, which will be available to veterans only.
In the past, the center VA has partnered with the Visiting Nurses Association of Butler County to provide flu shots to spouses of veterans, but the VNA has not received any vaccine, Virag said.
Paranormal Expois set in Beaver Co.
MONACA, Pa. -- The Beaver County Ghost Hunters will have their 2004 Paranormal Expo Oct. 30-31 at the Center Township Fire Department No. 3, 110 Van Kirk Road.
The event is open to the public, and admission is $3 per person. A portion of the proceeds will go to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The program will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Guest speakers include historian and archivist Thomas White on Oct. 30 and Scott Crownover, ghost hunter and author, on Oct. 31.
Eric Altman, director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society, also will speak Oct. 31.
Group will bring messageagainst abortion rights
YOUNGSTOWN -- Operation Rescue, a Christian organization that opposes abortion rights, will stop in Youngstown during a 15-day Prayer for Life Tour through Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The group, which kicked off its tour today at city hall in Lancaster, Pa., will visit Youngstown City Hall at noon Oct. 25.
The tour will include a fleet of trucks and signs displaying graphic images of aborted children, the group said.
"We know that the people of these areas tend to be hard-working, churchgoing people who base their votes on moral issues," said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue.
He noted that the tour will stop in every major city in the two states, including Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Erie.
School board meeting
BROOKFIELD -- The board of education has changed the time of its October meeting.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the high school cafeteria. A public work session will be at 6 p.m.
