Ursuline falls 31-14 against Watterson

COLUMBUS -- Columbus Bishop Watterson running back Mike Kundla only touched the ball four times on Friday against Ursuline.
Unfortunately for the Irish, he scored on three of them.
Kundla had touchdown runs of 50, 78 and 47 yards en route to 180 yards rushing as the Eagles (7-1) overwhelmed Ursuline 31-14 at Hagley Field.
"They ran the ball very effectively and had a couple of big plays on us," said Ursuline coach Dan Reardon. "The conditions were conducive to a running game and they, bottom line, were more effective than we were."
Sam Jacobs added 13 carries for 90 yards for Watterson, which is ranked sixth in Division III in the Associated Press poll and is first in the Region 10 computer ratings.
"We knew that Watterson was going to be a good opponent," said Irish linebacker Brad Turnbull. "We came in here with a game plan, but we are going to have to rebound from this loss and come back and try to beat Mooney."
Ursuline (5-3) plays Mooney (5-2) on Friday at Stambaugh Stadium.
Irish senior Alex Allen had 30 carries for 133 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown with 2:20 left in the fourth quarter. Jonathan Thomas added a 2-yard touchdown as Ursuline gained 145 yards on the ground. The Irish also had 30 yards passing and threw two interceptions.

BOARDMAN -- Mike Hartline ran for two touchdowns and passed for a third for the Golden Eagles (5-3, 3-2 Federal League).
Hartline rushed 16 times for 81 yards and a pair of 2-yard touchdowns.
He was also 9-for-12 passing for 124 yards including a 34-yard touchdown aerial to B.J. Penn.
After GlenOak scored a touchdown in each of the first two quarters, the Spartans (0-8, 0-5) got on the board after the half when Justin Powell returned a fumble 24 yards for a score.
For the Spartans, Nick Tascik ran 11 times for 93 yards and John Fahey had six runs for 44 yards.
Boardman quarterback Joe Bako was 8-for-15 for 28 yards.
