BOYS
Division I
Seeded teams: 1. North Canton Hoover, 2. Green, 3. Kent Roosevelt, 4. Boardman.
Notebook: None of the seeded teams are ranked in the state's top-10, compiled by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association. Boardman, led by Enrique Urruthia, plays its first match at home Oct. 21 against the Lake-Harding winner. The regional starts Nov. 2.
Division II
Seeded teams: 1. Mooney, 2. Lakeview, 3. Poland. 4. Howland.
Notebook: Mooney (13-0-1) has won 32 straight at home and has three consecutive trips to the regional tournament. The Cardinals are ranked first in the state and are led by Kiki Willis with 42 goals and a state-record 159 career scores. Lakeview (13-0-2) features goalie Alex Koltsov and tied for the Trumbull Athletic Conference title. Poland (11-0-2), led by senior P.J. Booth, won the Metro-Athletic Conference title for the first time since 1996. The Bulldogs were knocked out of the tournament the last two years by Mooney. Howland, with a great new field, opens at home on Oct. 19 against Canfield.
Division III
Seeded teams: 1. Champion, 2. Badger, 3. JFK, 4. Bristol.
Notebook: Champion (12-0-4) is ranked second in Ohio and seeks a second straight trip to the regional. Champion senior John Emery has a school-record 47 goals this year and Max Brugler has a state-record 36 assists this fall for coach Nate Mailach. Badger's first game, at home, will be Oct. 21 against Columbiana or Maplewood. Warren JFK (6-4-3) has senior Kyle Schimley with a school-record 18 goals. Bristol will face the survivor of East Palestine or Cardinal on Oct. 21.
GIRLS
Division I
Seeded teams: 1. Howland, 2. Green, 3. Niles, 4. Fitch.
Notebook: Howland is 11-0-3 and has been paced by Deja Amato, Erin Gilmour, Allie Airhart and Annastacia Filippidis. The Tigers went 8-0 to win the MAC. Niles will open at home on Oct. 23 against Boardman or Lake. Fitch (10-3-3), coached by Carlo Trafficante, won the district last fall for the first time in school history. Top offensive threats at Fitch are Jodi Bowlen, Dina Harris and Erica Bortmas. Bowlen has 25 goals this year and 61 in her career -- both school records.
Division II
Seeded teams: 1. Mooney, 2. Poland, 3. Lakeview, 4. Champion.
Notebook: Mooney, ranked third in Ohio, has never won a district title but has won 18 straight at home. Mooney is led by Kelly Willis with 77 career goals and Marisa Simon with 44 career assists. Second-seeded Poland (9-4-1) has been in the regional five times in the last 10 seasons. The Bulldogs have goalie Samantha Stanich and offensive threats Sarah Anderson (nine goals) and Colleen Moran. Lakeview (9-2) is ignited by Kasey Baker and Britni Morello. Champion (6-3-4) is paced by Carlie Dawson, Jessica Bennett and goalie Jessica Wood.
