Papania sparks Columbiana



COLUMBIANA -- Sophomore fullback Beau Papania set Columbiana records for yards for rushing yards in a game (339) and touchdowns (six) as the Clippers overwhelmed visiting East Palestine 48-6 in a Tri-County League football game on Friday.
Papania, who had 28 carries, broke Derek Garrod's yardage record (312, in 2002) and Brock Richardson's touchdown record (five, in 1997).
Papania has 1,025 yards through eight games for the Clippers (5-3, 3-2), while Mike Welce added five carries for 59 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown. The Clippers ran 50 times for 498 yards.
Clippers' quarterback Drew Wagner was 0 of 7.
John Hall scored the lone TD for East Palestine (3-5, 2-3), which had 159 of its 187 yards on the ground. Hall gained 87 yards on six carries.

SALINEVILLE -- Bubba Taylor caught three passes for 127 yards, including touchdown catches of 51 and 65 yards from quarterback Brian Phillips, to spark the Golden Eagles (4-4, 4-1)
Scott Martin added five carries for 115 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
United had 381 total yards of offense.
Southern (1-7, 0-5) had 203 yards.
