McDonald hangs on



MCDONALD -- Tyler Stanley ran 27 times for 142 yards and also hit 6 of 9 passes for 89 yards and three touchdowns as the McDonald High football team held off Lowellville 19-14 in an Inter-County League game Friday.
Trailing 14-13, Stanley found Callen D'Amore for a 9-yard TD with 12 seconds left in the second quarter. Stanley also had a 54-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Firment and a 57-yard TD to Joe Witkoski. Firment finished with three catches for 62 yards for the Blue Devils (5-3, 2-2).
Lucas Gonzalez carried 16 times for 42 yards and two touchdowns to lead Lowellville (2-6, 1-4). Rich Shrazer completed 5 of 11 for 51 yards, including two to Max Bartlett for 44 yards.
Springfield 12Jackson-Milton 6
NORTH JACKSON -- Melio Rios rushed 32 times for 181 yards and a 6-yard touchdown to pace the Tigers (7-1, 4-1 ICL).
The game was tied at 6 in the fourth quarter when a Springfield punt bounced off a Jackson-Milton player and the Tigers recovered at the 6. Rios scored on the next snap with 4:23 remaining.
Springfield took the lead in the first quarter when Andrew Schuler hit Mike Kampfer with a 22-yard touchdown pass.
The Blue Jays (2-6, 1-3) tied the game in the third quarter, going 90 yards in 17 plays, capped by Andrew Whitmer's 1-yard touchdown.
Adam Keck ran 20 times for 94 yards and Whitmer added 15 carries for 90 yards.
