Kubik throws for 303 yards, 2 scores as Louisiana Tech ends slump

DALLAS (AP) -- Ryan Moats rushed for 186 yards and three touchdowns and Matt Kubik passed for 303 yards and two scores, as Louisiana Tech snapped a five-game road losing streak by beating Southern Methodist 41-10 Saturday night.
Moats scored on runs of 9, 72 and 20 yards, the last one giving Louisiana Tech (4-3, 3-0 Western Athletic) a 31-7 lead midway through the second quarter.
The Bulldogs are off to their first 3-0 conference start since joining the WAC in 2001, while SMU (1-6, 1-3) has lost 18 of its last 19 games.
Moats, who entered the game the nation's third-leading rusher at 154.7 yards per game, became the first Bulldogs' player to record two 1,000 yard rushing seasons. He could have had even more yards Saturday but was benched with the game out of hand in the third quarter.

Kubik, from Cardinal Mooney High, completed 18 of 26 passes, including a 93-yard touchdown pass to Tramissian Davis on the Bulldogs' third play from scrimmage. It was third-longest pass play in school history.
SMU's Tony Eckert was 26-of-52 for 288 yards, but he also threw four interceptions. His 23-yard pass to Reynaldo Pellerin in the first quarter was the Mustangs' only TD.
