Beaver Local rips Oak Glen to remain unbeaten



LISBON -- Five different backs scored touchdowns as unbeaten Beaver Local High posted a 36-7 victory over Oak Glen (W.Va.) on Friday at the Beavers' stadium.
Ranked second in Div. III, Region 11 of the Ohio high school computer playoff ratings, the Beavers' (8-0) Josh Weese, who rushed for 100 yards on nine carries, gave Beaver Local a 6-0 lead when he scored on a 26-yard run in the first quarter.
The Beavers' Steve Mercer and Leo Pearson tallied on runs of 44 and 7 yards, respectively. Dan Kinsey returned a punt 70 yards for a TD and Bobby Flint scored on a 24-yard run.
The Beavers rushed for 401 yards on 43 attempts and they were 0 of 5 passing.
Jesse Mahan rushed for 109 yards on 11 carries, which included a 16-yard TD run. The Golden Bears rushed 37 times for 196 yards and they were 1 of 4 passing for 7.
West Branch 21Canton South 7
BELOIT -- Eric Balputnis scored three touchdowns, two of them in the fourth quarter, as West Branch rallied to beat Canton South.
Balputnis' first TD gave the Warriors (4-3) the lead in the first quarter. In the fourth period, he tallied on runs of 11 and 18 yards. He finished with 250 yards on 32 rushes.
The Warriors had 256 yards on the ground and they passed for 24.
Canton South (4-4) managed 151 rushing yards and 75 passing.
