SOCCER Mang scores six goals for Niles



Senior Nathan Mang increased his scoring output this season to 30 goals.
NILES -- Senior Nathan Mang scored six goals, giving him 30 on the season, to lead Niles High past Liberty, 10-2, in a boys soccer game on Thursday.
Andrew Nagy, Jake Schimley, Ted Slovan and Kevin Smith added one goal apiece as Niles (4-10) built a 4-2 lead at the break.
Brian Sehon and Ryan Karson scored for the Leopards.
The teams will meet again in the first round of the tournament Tuesday.
Boardman 5, Canfield 1
BOARDMAN -- Enrique Urrutia scored twice for the Spartans.
Juniors Nick Antonucci, Sam Stoll and Bob Davis added solo goals for Boardman.
Jeremy Winters assisted on two goals.
Canfield's goal was scored by Tim Latimer, with an assist by Scott Sidal. Ryan Connors had 18 saves.
Hubbard 4, Newton Falls 0
HUBBARD -- Scott Northcott scored two goals and had an assist for the Eagles (6-10, 6-4 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Anthony Tombo, who had three assists, and Mark Sarisky added a goal apiece.
Hubbard had 27 shots on goal and Newton Falls (7-8-1) had 11.
The Eagles' goalkeeper Aaron Severa had 10 saves. Brent Davis of the Tigers had 18 saves.
United 1, Heartland Christian 1
HANOVERTON -- Austin Dangler scored off an assist from Ben Taylor for United (5-6-3).
For Heartland, Blake Kozma scored a goal and Treg Lunger had the assist.
United goalie Spencer Widlicka made seven saves.
Girls
STRUTHERS -- Colleen Zajac had two assists, and Kelly Burke, Amanda Stanavich and Kelli Willis scored goals in Cardinal Mooney's 3-0 win over Champion.
Brianna Groubert also had an assist for the Cardinals (14-1-1), while goalies Natalie Humphreys and Veronica Skowron had two saves each.
Natalie Wood had five saves for Champion (8-3-4).
Warren JFK 3, Warren Harding 0
WARREN -- Jenn Natale scored twice and Katie Piacquadio had the other -- all in the second half -- for the Eagles (9-7, 2-4 Steel Valley Conference).
Sarah Moffett and Lexie Polivka each assisted on a goal.
JFK goaltender Jacquee Lombardi had two saves as the Eagles out-shot Harding, 18-4.
Stephanie Cross had eight saves for the Raiders.
Maplewood 6,Youngstown Christian 4
MECCA -- Nikki Grant and Kristina Peterson each scored two goals for the Rockets (5-9-2).
Katie Engstrom and Brittany Spencer also scored for the Rockets.
Kara Cooper scored twice and Annelise Baniluk and Arielle Flores each had a goal for Youngstown Christian.
