BET network pulls plug on Eminem's spoof video
BET network pulls plugon Eminem's spoof video
Black Entertainment Television (BET) has banned Eminem's latest video "Just Lose It" after Michael Jackson complained about it, reports IMDB.com.
The Detroit rapper dresses as the self-proclaimed King of Pop in his latest video, during which he jumps around on a bed with children, his nose falls off and his hair bursts into flames -- which spoofs the "Thriller" star's accident on the set of a Pepsi commercial in 1984.
Jackson is furious about the video and is urging all television networks to ban it.
"Michael Jackson is very angry," says his rep, Ramone Bain. "He feels that Eminem has crossed the line. Michael is calling upon all networks to pull the video. Bob Johnson BET's founder and chairman has agreed to pull it. And that's an important audience for Eminem's material."
Eminem's lyrics include: "Come here little kiddie, on my lap. Guess who's back with a brand new rap? And I don't mean rap, as in a case of child molestation." In light of Jackson's upcoming trial to fight child molestation charges, Bain believes Eminem has been "insensitive."
Bain continues, "Michael feels the video is disrespectful and offensive. It's one thing to spoof someone, it's another to be completely insensitive and disrespectful."
Bain insists there was no truth to the reports Jackson would sue Eminem over the video.
Kidman discusses roles, worries about skin cancer
PARIS -- Blondes may have more fun, but Nicole Kidman says she'd rather have been born a brunette.
In an interview with French magazine Paris-Match, the Oscar-winning actress also said she doesn't see herself pursuing her film career indefinitely. And she revealed that her 2001 divorce from Tom Cruise changed her criteria for selecting roles.
"Since my divorce, I lean, consciously or not, toward characters who are strong women taking control of their destiny, personal and professional," the weekly quoted Kidman as saying.
"The position of a so-called 'powerful' actress is comforting for a single woman like me," she added. "It gives you a character of hardened steel."
Kidman, envied for her golden curls and porcelain skin, said she believes a darker complexion would have left her less susceptible to the sun's damaging rays. She said she worries about skin cancer.
"I would, all things said, have preferred to be a brunette with a dark complexion. But I work with what I have."
Kidman's upcoming films include "Bewitched," "The Interpreter" and "The Producers," also starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.
With her new marriage,Britney plans changes
Get ready for the pitter-patter of little Federlines. Pop star Britney Spears, who seems intent on committing career suicide, told a German magazine this week that she would like to go by her married name, Mrs. Federline. She married dancer Kevin Federline, 26, last month.
"I probably will. ... Britney Federline, I like that," the singer said. "Society probably won't allow me, but I would like to change it."
Speaking for society, honey, we don't give a flying fig. But your manager, if you still have one, might have some objections.
Spears also allowed that she'd like to start painting the nursery in the Malibu mansion she bought her ungroomed groom. "I'd love to have a baby already," she said. "But I've got to take care of some things first. ... I want to become a mother. I'm crazy about children. ... Next year, when I'm 23, I'll be ready."
Does society get a vote on that decision?
