DIVISION I
When: Thursday, 8:30 a.m.; finals Saturday at 8:30 a.m.Where: Tri-City Park, Rocky River.Area doubles team: Juniors Renee Lesnett-Rachel McGowan (Canfield).State qualifiers: Four singles players and four doubles teams advance to the state tennis tournament Oct. 22-23 at the Stickney Center at The Ohio State University.Notebook: Lesnett and McGowan each qualified as singles players last year, losing in the first round. Lesnett also made it as a freshman in 2002. They won last week's sectional title, defeating Jackson's Stacy Conlan and Caitlen Klausner in three sets.
DIVISION II
When: Thursday, 9 a.m.; finals Saturday at 9 a.m.Where: Weis Park Courts, Canton.Area singles players: Kim Ezzo (Ursuline), Alyssa Tom (Poland), Becca Brocker (Mooney), April Scudere (Brookfield).Area doubles teams: Megan Bennett-Alexa Marino (Poland), Samantha Gett-Jessica Mullis (Poland), Alyssa Mootz-Rachel Ballas (Liberty), Hilary Rossi-Alison Rossi (Warren JFK).State qualifiers: Five singles players and five doubles teams advance.Notebook: None of the players has advanced to the state tournament. The last area singles player to advance to the state tournament in Div. I since Mooney's Sarah Lyras in 2001. No area doubles team has advanced to the state tournament in Div. II since Poland's Erin Bennett and Stephanie Kobuch in 2002. Ezzo, a sophomore who has won back-to-back sectional titles, defeated Tom in the final, 6-1, 6-1. Bennett and Marino defeated Mullis and Gett, 6-4, 6-1.
