REPORT: ABC STOPS STAR FROM PLUGGING SUPPLIERS
Report: ABC stops Starfrom plugging suppliers
Has Star's star fallen at ABC? In an informative report, the New York Post says the network has put the kibosh on Star Jones' plugging companies and merchants that are supplying her Nov. 13 wedding on the informative daytime talk show "The View," which Star co-hosts with three other women (four on those hallowed days Barbara Walters shows up). Jones has reportedly made a deal with all the suppliers, from the dresses to the flowers to the hairdressing, to get their services for free, promising to give the companies free promotion on TV.
The Post says ABC is worried all this might violate FCC rules. A "View" rep says, "We consider the wedding-related segments [that have already aired] ... to be of legitimate interest to the viewer." Meanwhile, Jones tells the Post, "My wedding is my business -- it's not your business."
Regis' co-host Ripa wins students' choice
NEW YORK -- She might owe him her household name status, but according to a recent survey, more New York college students would rather room with Kelly Ripa than Regis Philbin, her "Live With Regis and Kelly" co-host.
An Educational Housing Services survey reports that 32 percent of students polled would like to share an abode with Ripa, who also stars in ABC's "Hope & amp; Faith," while only 1 percent chose Philbin.
"College students love Kelly Ripa," EHS President and Chief Executive Officer George Scott said in a recent statement. "One of the things students say they most want to do while living in New York City is to meet celebrities. A third of our residents would love to have the opportunity to meet Kelly. Sorry Regis, maybe next year." Conan O'Brien, Jon Stewart, David Letterman and Tony Danza followed Ripa in the survey, released by EHS, a provider of private, off-campus student housing in New York.
Eminem's new videohas Jackson ready to sue
Michael Jackson is threatening to sue Eminem over the rapper's new video, which depicts the self-proclaimed King of Pop playing with young children, reports Ananova.com. The video for Eminem's new single "Just Lose It" also pokes fun at Jacko's plastic surgery and an incident when his hair caught fire while filming a Pepsi commercial 20 years ago.
Eminem appears made up as Jackson in the "Thriller" star's trademark red leather jacket and trousers. In one scene, his nose falls off, and he's seen scrambling around on the floor looking for it. In another, the Jackson character comes face to face with the real Eminem, and the rapper vomits all over him. Later, Eminem raps: "Come here little kiddie, on my lap, guess who's back with a brand new rap. And I don't mean rap as in a case of child molestation."
It ends with Eminem dressed as Jackson sitting on a bed with kids bouncing up and down behind him.
Jackson is considering legal action if the rapper doesn't pull the video, which began airing on MTV and VH1 over the weekend.
Jackson's spokesman said: "The Jackson family feels the video is demeaning and disrespectful and hopes Eminem will pull it. Michael is very displeased and doesn't want it shown." Jackson's not the irreverent rapper's only target: Eminem also pokes fun at Madonna, Pee-wee Herman and MC Hammer, utilizing appearances by the ubiquitous Paris Hilton, Eminem's "8 Mile" co-star Mekhi Phifer, Dr. Dre, Erik Estrada and "Bad Santa" star Tony Cox.
