1-car crash in Hubbardkills 22-year-old driver
HUBBARD -- A 22-year-old Hubbard motorist was killed early today in a one-car crash on the city's outh side.
Pronounced dead at the scene was Nicholas Evans of Hillview Drive.
Police said Evans was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier south on Hager Street about 2:15 a.m. when the car went off the left side of the road at a sharp curve where Hager becomes Parkview Drive.
Police said the car struck a guardrail and trees, causing Evans to be partly ejected.
He was not wearing a seat belt.
Shots fired at boys
WARREN -- A Brier Street S.E woman told police that four men fired shots at her sons while they were playing football.
The woman said her teenage sons were near East Junior High School Monday morning when four men came up to them and began firing several shots.
No one was injured.
Taxi driver robbed
WARREN -- A New Valley Taxi driver told police that a man and a woman stopped him in the 1100 block of Oak Street Southwest and robbed him of $100 in cash.
The robbery took place around 7:45 a.m. Monday.
Ex-patrolman arrested
YOUNGSTOWN -- Chris Bonacci, who resigned in November as a city patrolman, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. today in the 300 block of Cohasset Drive on a drug charge.
Bonacci, 33, of North Bon Air Avenue, was a passenger in a car driven by Denise Geddie, 19, of Roxbury Avenue, police said.
Geddie was driving with the high beams on and no license-plate light, police said.
Bonacci was arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine and Geddie was charged with driving under suspension.
Police said they found suspected crack in the car.
Flu shots canceled
Tops grocery stores have canceled all of its flu shot sessions that were scheduled after Saturday because of a vaccine shortage.
Company officials said that clinics scheduled before Saturday will have flu vaccine available, while supplies last, for high-risk individuals only.
High-risk individuals are adults 65 or older; residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities; people with chronic lung or heart disease, including asthma; health-care workers with direct contact with patients' primary caregivers of those with children less than 6 months of age.

Burglary at business
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Police said someone pried open a door to get into an office at Dunbar Slag at 30 Ohio St.
The intruder stole a small amount of cash and a pair of new size 9 boots valued at $140.
The burglary occurred between 4 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Administrator honored
YOUNGSTOWN -- Laura McLaughlin, Youngstown Municipal Court administrator, was among 30 graduates of a weeklong court management program recently honored in Columbus by Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer.
The program addresses many issues, including improved skills in case management, budgeting, technology and human resources, Moyer said.
McLaughlin, a licensed social worker and certified chemical dependency counselor, has been court administrator since April 2001.
Her experience includes 10 years managing a community corrections facility.
Restaurant robbery
BOARDMAN -- Township police are investigating a robbery Saturday at the Hunan House on Boardman-Poland Road.
According to police, a man came into the restaurant three times just before 11 p.m. to order and pick up food.
The last time he entered, he demanded money from the cash register and received between $400 and $500.
Police said the man indicated he had a gun, but no one saw a weapon.
