Teen dies in crash
LISBON -- An East Palestine teenager was killed in a one-car crash on state Route 170 in Unity Township.
The Lisbon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Donald Rose, 17, died Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.
A passenger, Gary Baumbeck, 16, also of East Palestine, was treated at the scene.
The patrol said Rose was driving north on Route 170 around 8:20 p.m. when he lost control of his car one mile south of Jimtown Road. The car went off the left side of the road, struck two trees and a stump and came to rest in a private yard.
The patrol said both teens were wearing seat belts.
Second man arrested
SHARON, Pa. -- Police arrested a second suspect in the March 13 armed robbery of a man in an apartment in the 300 block of East Silver Street.
Edward J. Wooten, 33, of West Lincoln Avenue, surrendered to police last week after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest on charges of robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and burglary. He was arraigned and is being held in Mercer County jail on $25,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing.
Police said Wooten and Robert Spruill, 20, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, forced their way into the apartment at gunpoint and stole a cell phone and a pair of sweatpants.
Spruill was arrested earlier and pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property Sept. 21.
Restaurant burglarized
SANDY LAKE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said money was stolen in a burglary at Lakeview Restaurant at 4824 Sandy Lake-Greenville Road.
The burglary occurred between 10 p.m. Friday and 5 am. Saturday, police said.
Officers added for event
AUSTINTOWN -- Additional police officers will be on patrol enforcing traffic laws during Fitch High School's Homecoming on Friday and Saturday.
The extra patrols are funded through the governor's Highway Safety Office.
