FOXBORO, MASS. Patriots shatter NFL record by winning 19th straight game, 24-10, over Miami

New England extended the Dolphins' winless streak to five games.
FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Bill Belichick wasn't much fun to hang out with.
New England's coach scowled, held extra practices and made sure his Patriots, who hadn't lost in over a year, would be ready for a winless opponent.
"You really didn't want to be around him," safety Rodney Harrison said. "You didn't see a smile or smirk all week."
But in the final moments of the Patriots' NFL record-setting 19th straight win, 24-10 over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the coach whose smiles are almost as rare as his losses let one emerge as he shook his players' hands.
"We won a division game against Miami, which is always nice. You know, that is really what it was about," Belichick said.
He finally acknowledged the winning streak that he had downplayed all season.
"I did tell the team that I thought they should be proud of what they accomplished and that no other team in pro football has done that," he said.
Dolphins still winless
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, they're the only team with an 0-5 record, a far cry from the 1972-73 Miami squads that shared the record of 18 straight wins in the regular season and playoffs with five other teams before Sunday.
"This is tough," linebacker Zach Thomas said. "You lose five straight, it's a lot harder to prepare."
Miami did excel on defense, as it has all season, holding New England to 204 yards and Tom Brady to his worst statistical day in 56 career starts, including the playoffs. He went 7-for-19 for 76 yards and an interception with two touchdown passes.
"We have to go out and play better than we did today if we want to keep winning," Brady said.
The Dolphins must do that to keep from going 0-6 for the first time with an inept offense that plays at Buffalo next Sunday. They were 0-5 in their 1966 expansion season.
Kicker Mare sidelined
Miami has scored just three touchdowns and 42 points in five games and committed an NFL-high 16 turnovers. Kicker Olindo Mare, who has 20 of those points, missed Sunday's game with a calf injury and was replaced by rookie Wes Welker, who tried -- and missed -- just one extra-point kick in college.
"We felt good about moving the ball," Dolphins quarterback Jay Fiedler said, "but you look on the scoreboard and you only see 10 points."
Miami, trailing 24-10, reached the New England 1-yard line with 2:44 remaining on Fiedler's 45-yard completion to Marty Booker.
"We just don't want to give up those points," Harrison said. "It was just a matter of pride."
So Harrison sacked Fiedler for a 12-yard loss that sent the quarterback to the sidelines. Two plays later, on fourth down, Feeley threw an incompletion in the end zone as he was hit by Rosevelt Colvin, causing a concussion.
Brady's 1-yard pass to David Givens and Adam Vinatieri's 40-yard field goal made it 10-0 before Fiedler threw a 10-yard scoring pass to Chris Chambers. Brady's 5-yard scoring pass to David Givens in the final minute made it 17-7 at halftime.
Corey Dillon ran 36 yards to the Miami 4 but left with an ankle injury, and Rabih Abdullah finished the drive with a 1-yard run midway through the third quarter. Welker kicked a 29-yard field goal late in the period.
