MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE Miami jars Kent St. with six-TD revolt

OXFORD, Ohio -- Josh Betts threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns and Miami of Ohio scored on six straight second-half possessions to beat Kent State 47-27 on Saturday.
Betts' 1-yard TD run early in the third quarter put the RedHawks up for good after they trailed 20-17 at halftime.
Miami's Michael Larkin had 142 yards on nine catches and scored three touchdowns, including a 31-yarder from Ryne Robinson, who also had 115 yards receiving.
Miami (3-3, 2-1 Mid-American Conference) shut down Kent State in the second half, picking off quarterback Joshua Cribbs and forcing him to fumble. The RedHawks created four turnovers while committing none.
Cribbs was 23-for-34 for 295 yards and three first-half touchdowns, connecting with Derrick Bush, Marcus Hill and Antwan Smith. Cribbs also ran 20 times for 31 yards and punted twice, putting one inside the Miami 20.
The Golden Flashes (1-5, 0-3) lost the turnover battle and couldn't stop Miami in the second half, allowing 30 unanswered points until Joey Barcus scored on a 41-yard TD pass from Smith with under seven minutes left.

ATHENS -- Marshall's Ian O'Connor made three field goals, out-kicking Brooks Rossman, whose miss on a 32-yarder with 25 seconds remaining allowed the Thundering Herd to hold on.
Rob Stover recovered quarterback Stan Hill's fumble with 2:02 remaining, giving Ohio the ball on the Marshall 17. Three plays later Rossman missed his first attempt of the day.
O'Connor was 3-for-3 including a 52-yarder in the first quarter.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Bruce Gradkowski threw three touchdown passes to Lance Moore and Trinity Dawson rushed for 158 yards and two scores to lead Toledo.

AKRON -- Brett Biggs rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns and Charlie Frye threw for two scores to lead Akron.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Omar Jacobs threw for 387 yards and four touchdowns on 31-for-42 passing to lead Bowling Green.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Anthony Sherrell's 26-yard touchdown run with a little over two minutes remaining gave Eastern Michigan the win in a game that had 946 yards in total offense.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Chris Nendick kicked 39-yard field goal as time ran out to save Northern Illinois from a late-game collapse.
Northern Illinois (4-2, 3-0 MAC) led by 21 points at halftime.
