Women's conference
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- The New & amp; Living Way Apostolic Women of the World is hosting its 15th annual women's conference Thursday through Oct. 16 at the Radisson Hotel on Route 18 at I-80 exit 4B, West Middlesex. The theme of this year's conference is "I Must Go to Peniel!" Prophetess Glories Powell of Las Vegas will speak. Registration is $35 and includes materials, Friday morning breakfast and workshops, and Saturday morning workshops and luncheon. A day for visitors
EAST PALESTINE -- Visitors Sunday is this week at Grace Lutheran Church, Grant and Walnut streets. Sunday school for children and adults is at 9:30 a.m., and worship is at 10:45 a.m. There will be music and a children's sermon. After worship, there will be a fellowship hour, with cookies and punch.
Revival services planned
WAYNE -- There will be a revival at Wayne Congregational Church at Routes 322 and 193. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Ray A. Pledger. Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
Journeymen Quartet
NORTH LIMA -- The Journeymen Quartet will be in concert at North Lima Mennonite Church at 7 p.m. Oct. 23. A free-will offering will be taken. Before the concert, a stuffed-chicken-breast dinner will be served in the church Fellowship Hall from 4:40 to 6:30 p.m. The price of the dinner is $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12. Proceeds will help people from the church take a mission trip to Kosovo next summer. The church is at 90 Mennonite Drive, just off state Route 7, less than one-half mile south of state Route 165. Make a Difference Day
CHAMPION -- Make a Difference Day will include a free spaghetti dinner at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at St. John Lutheran Church, 5734 Mahoning Ave., Routes 305 and 45. Interim pastor at Calvary
YOUNGSTOWN -- Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, is welcoming an interim pastor, the Rev. Carter W. Smith, from Franklin, Ky. The Rev. Mr. Smith received his bachelor's degree from Temple Baptist Theological Seminary and a B.B.E. from Columbia Bible College. He has been associate pastor of Providence Baptist Church and pastor of Fairview Baptist Church in Kentucky. He has also served as pastor in Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee.
'Saturday Night Alive'
COLUMBIANA -- "Saturday Night Alive" at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Midway Church, 13376 Columbiana-Canfield Road, will feature John and Naomi Lederach, who speak about how to build a valuable and respectful relationship that can change your life forever. Enjoy the music of "Breath of Worship." Cider and doughnuts will be served afterward.
Hope-and-healing service
SHARON, Pa. -- AWARE, Mercer County Center Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, presents Silent Witness, an event to commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A faith service of hope and healing will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 20 in the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church. Light refreshments will be served.
Festival of Icons
WARREN -- The 15th Annual Festival of Icons will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 6 at St. John's Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road. The topic is "Freedom of religion in America? Orthodox Christians held captive in a secular world." Father Peter Gillquist, archpriest in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, and Father Thomas Hopko, retired dean of St. Vladimir's Seminary, will speak at the event. The program also features a Molieben service, coffee and refreshments, icon and bookstore browsing, a roundtable discussion with the two speakers and great vespers. Advanced registration is required before Oct. 23. Cost is $10 for lectures only and $20 for lunch and lectures. A vendor area will include books, icons and accessories.
