Tigers ramble against 'Devils
South Range rolled to its seventh straight win, while Lowellville topped W.R.
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Springfield's 1-2-3 punch of Melio Rios, Andrew Schuler and Matt Morell were too much for McDonald as the Tigers cruised 42-14 in an Inter-County League game on Friday.
Rios scored touchdowns on runs of 38 and 5 yards and rushed for 183 yards in 23 carries, while Schuler hit Morell on two TD passes of 80 and 12 yards and also plunged a yard to another score.
Schuler wound up 6-for-9 passing for 149 yards. Aaron Wood added three catches for 37 yards.
Mike Sobnosky scored Springfield's other TD on a 1-yard plunge, while Nick Panezich was 6-for-6 in extra-point kicks. Springfield (6-1, 3-1 ICL) rushed for 226 yards in 37 carries and had 12 first downs.
Ryan Ronghi scored both of McDonald's TDs on 1-yard plunges, while Justin Callow added both placements. McDonald is 4-3, 2-2.
Tyler Stanley accounted for 191 yards of McDonald's offense. He rushed for 126 yards in 19 carries and passed for 65 yards on 4-for-7.
South Range 26,Jackson-Milton 16
NORTH JACKSON -- Unbeaten South Range (7-0) picked up its third straight league win as it scored 12 points in the first quarter and 14 in the fourth period.
Matt Schlatter paced the Raiders with a 75-yard run and also caught a 50-yard TD strike from John Less.
He also rushed eight times for 86 yards. Ben Johnson of the Raiders carried 27 times for 157 yards, which included 3 and 2 yard TD runs.
Adam Keck of Jackson-Milton rushed 15 times for 94 yards, which included TD runs of 4 and 40 yards.
Lowellville 14,Western Reserve 7
LOWELLVILLE -- Lucas Gonzalez rushed 18 times for 126 yards and a 20-yard touchdown for the Rockets (2-5, 1-3).
Max Bartlett added 16 carries for 57 yards and John Calderone scored a 15-yard touchdown for Lowellville.
Western Reserve (2-5, 0-4) averted a shutout when Chris Truit passed 10 yards to Dave Ferrando in the fourth quarter.
