Harris, Bowlen lead Fitch past Poland



Unbeaten Howland tied state-ranked Chagrin Falls 2-2.
AUSTINTOWN -- Dina Harris and Jodi Bowlen scored second-half goals to lead the Fitch High girls soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Poland on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Cara Calai made nine saves to record the shutout for the Falcons (9-3-3).
Poland's record is now 8-4-1.
Ursuline 3, Canton Central Catholic 1
YOUNGSTOWN -- Hannah Snyder, Geralyn Tondo-Steele and Katelyn Tondo-Steele scored goals to lead the Irish to victory.
Jolanta Carkido made seven saves for Ursuline (8-5-1).
Central Catholic's record is now 3-10-1.
Howland 2, Chagrin Falls 2
HOWLAND -- Annastacia Filippidos and Rachel Albani each scored goals for Howland (9-0-3).
Deja Amato contributed both assists and goalie Melissa Airhart had five saves.
The match was tied 1-1 at halftime.
Chagrin Falls, ranked second in the state in Div. II, is 11-1-2.
West Branch 2, Louisville 0
LOUISVILLE -- Ashley Kurena and Lisa Bell scored to lead the Warriors in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
West Branch out-shot Louisville 30-12. Warriors goalkeeper Carli Poffenberger made nine saves, while Louisville's Kyllee Simmons made 22.
Boys
BELOIT -- Andrew McCain scored two goals, while Aaron Cronin added a goal to lead West Branch to a 3-1 win over Warren JFK.
Joe Starkey contributed two assists, while Johnny Wallace had one assist for the Warriors (8-4-2).
Cronin scored on Starkey's assist 14 seconds into the game.
West Branch goalie Shane Young delivered five saves.
The Warriors led in corner kicks, 6-1, and goals attempted, 15-6.
Ursuline 6, Salem 0
STRUTHERS -- Ryan Novotny and Nick Chaney each scored two goals and had an assist apiece.
Ursuline (6-5-2) has won six of its last seven games.
Chris DePaola and Corey Mihaly also tacked on a goal and an assist each for the Irish, who led 4-0 at the half.
Carrollton 2, United 1
HANOVERTON -- Brock Volio scored for United in a non-league game.
Spencer Widlicka added eight saves for United (5-6-1).
John Neider had a goal and an assist and Cody Moyer also scored for Carrollton (5-9-0). Kyle Hidey had four saves and Josh Hendershot had one.
