CITY/FEDERAL ROUNDUP Fitch turns back Hoover to remain undefeated, 34-27
Mike Eliseo scored twice as the Falcons improved to 7-0.
NORTH CANTON -- Mike Eliseo scored touchdowns on runs of 6 and 1 yards to help Austintown Fitch turn back North Canton Hoover 34-27 in a Federal League game Friday.
Late in the first half Fitch quarterback John Mang scored on a 3-yard run to give the Falcons a 27-20 lead at the break.
After the Vikings (1-6, 1-3) tied the game at 27, Dane Stilgenbauer scored a 1-yard touchdown to put Fitch (7-0, 4-0) in front to stay.
Fitch rushed 69 times for 431 yards. Hoover carried the ball seven times for 15 yards.
The Falcons had more first downs, 24-11.
Canton McKinley 45Boardman 0
BOARDMAN -- Ryan Brinson of the Bulldogs (4-2) rushed for 261 yards on 20 rushes, which included touchdown runs of 85, 58 and 5 yards.
Canton McKinley had 428 yards on 43 attempts and it was 2 of 6 for 34 yards passing.
The Spartans' K.T. Moses carried 15 times for 68 yards. Boardman (0-7) rushed 30 times for 60 yards and hit on 8 of 15 passes for 58 yards.
Alliance 23Rayen 20
ALLIANCE -- The Aviators (5-2) built a 23-6 lead through three quarters, then held on for the victory after Rayen rallied for 14 points in the fourth quarter.
Chris Babb scored on a 2-yard run and threw a 16-yard TD strike to Chris Banks to spark the Aviators.
The Tigers (4-3) relied on passing as Gary Thornton connected with Tony Rice on 72- and 22-yard TD strikes. Rice finished with three catches for 134 yards.
Babb hit on 11 of 24 passes for 170 yards.
Chaney 42Canton Timken 6
CANTON -- Lamar Sykes ran 18 times for 137 yards and touchdowns of 8 and 15 yards for the Cowboys (4-3, 1-0 City Series).
Terrel Tomlin added 11 carries for 79 yards and a 4-yard tally for Chaney.
Timken (1-6, 0-1) fell behind 35-6 at the half.
Chaney had more first downs, 22-14.
Campbell 26Wilson 20
CAMPBELL -- Derrell Johnson rushed 22 times for 156 yards and touchdowns of 18 and 44 yards for the Red Devils (1-6).
Johnson also threw a pair of touchdown passes to Joe Faunda covering 39 and 19 yards.
For the Redmen (0-7), Derrick Maddox rushed 22 times for 146 yards including a 10-yard touchdown.
Maddox threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Edmonds as Wilson trailed just 13-12 at the break.
With Campbell in front 26-12 in the fourth quarter, Darrelle Patterson ripped off a 91-yard scoring burst to round out the scoring.
