'APPRENTICE' CONTESTANTS RETURN FOR STINT ON QVC
'Apprentice' contestantsreturn for stint on QVC
NEW YORK -- They've pushed toys, ice cream and toothpaste. And now, the Mosaic team from NBC's "The Apprentice" is selling wares on QVC. Again.
The second-season reality show contestants faced the home shopping channel's cameras for a men-versus-women challenge in Thursday's episode.
On Monday, the winning team members -- project manager Chris Russo, Kelly Perdew, Kevin Allen, Wes Moss, Andy Litinsky, John Willenborg and Raj Bhakta -- will visit QVC once again.
The appearance is unusual, considering most "Apprentice" contestants -- like many reality TV show participants -- are required to lay low until they're fired or win.
"We are very excited to have 'The Apprentice' team back at QVC," Darlene Daggett, QVC's president of U.S. commerce, said in a statement Friday. "This is the first time that anyone other than the 'firee' has made an appearance on behalf of the reality television hit, and we are thrilled that it's happening live on QVC."
The contestants will be joined by QVC product pros, who won't be grilling the contestants for spoilers. Instead, they'll help them sell sandwich grills ("Look at that melted cheese," gushed Willenborg on Thursday's episode) and a water-activated cleaning block set, as well as copies of the first season of "The Apprentice" on DVD.
The Mosaic team will be joined by recently fired Pamela Day and last season's over-the-top contestant Sam Solovey.
Independent filmmakerto attend W.Va. festival
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- John Sayles, the independent filmmaker who wrote and directed "Matewan," will be a featured guest at the 20th annual West Virginia International Film Festival next month.
"This is probably the biggest coup this festival has ever seen," said Pam Haynes, director of the West Virginia Film Office and former head of the event. "I am absolutely thrilled."
The festival opens Nov. 5 at the Capitol Center Theater in Charleston. Ticket prices and other details are still being worked out.
Sayles hasn't made a public appearance in West Virginia since attending an advance screening of "Matewan" in 1987. "Matewan," which starred James Earl Jones and Chris Cooper, was based on the West Virginia mine wars of the early 20th century.
It's official! Spears,Federline are married
LOS ANGELES -- Britney Spears has formalized her marriage to dancer Kevin Federline, three weeks after a hush-hush ceremony that was her second wedding of the year.
Spears' spokeswoman, Nicole King, confirmed Friday that the necessary legal documents were filed Thursday, although she would not say where.
The "Oops! ... I Did It Again" singer, 22, married 26-year-old Federline at a private home in the Studio City area with 20 to 30 people attending.
Days later, celebrity gossip magazines questioned whether the event was a hoax because no paperwork for the marriage could be located in any government office.
Federline has said the delay was caused when the couple moved their wedding date up to Sept. 18 as word leaked out that they were planning to be married Oct. 16. Moving the date up a month, he said, did not give their lawyers time to finish their prenuptial agreement.
Spears and Federline, who began dating early this year, announced their engagement in June.
Federline appeared in the movie "You Got Served" and performed as a backup dancer for singer Justin Timberlake, Spears' former boyfriend. He was previously involved with actress Shar Jackson of TV's "Moesha."
