UJohn H. Davis, Niles Board of Education president, said he was not in favor of the levy the board intends to put on the February special election ballot. Instead, he wanted to see the board consider a permanent improvement levy to repair district buildings. Board members voted 4-1 Wednesday to place an emergency, five-year levy on the special-election ballot; Davis cast the dissenting vote. A story in Thursday's Vindicator did not make clear his stance on the matter.
UAustintown police said Vincent Roberts went to his uncle's Mary Lane home in Austintown after beating his mother with a chair Monday night. A story Thursday incorrectly stated that Roberts went to his father's Mary Lane home.
