CROSS COUNTRY McDonald sweeps ICL titles
Both the boys and girls teams ran to ICL crowns.

BERLIN CENTER -- The McDonald High boys cross country team placed six runners in the top eight to edge South Range 25-38 for the Inter-County League title on Tuesday at Western Reserve High School.
Joe Copploe was third for the Blue Devils, followed by Matt McNicholas, Anthony Puntel, Aaron Thornton, Jason Witkoski and Taylor Sowers who placed fourth through eighth.
The top five runners count in the standings.
South Range senior Dan Nemergut took first in 16:55.02, followed by teammate Doug Miller (17:09.34).
Girls
McDonald's Ashleigh Tondo (21:21.86) and Erin Koppel (21:22.60) placed 1-2 as McDonald beat South Range 23-32 for the girls team title.
Springfield's Katie Pitts was third, followed by South Range's Kelcie Whitmer and McDonald's Krysti Sowers.
Trumbull Athletic Conference
CHAMPION -- Lakeview's Mike Bogard (16:59.9) and Aaron Pollack (17:09.2) finished 1-2 as the Bulldogs finished second behind Girard for the boys team title.
Aaron Foutz finished third and Jordan Gerchak was sixth for the Indians, who held a 37-45 edge.
Champion's James Packman finished fourth as the Flashes placed third, while Lakeview's Chris Medzie took fifth.
Girls
Katie Scannell (20:16.9) and Nicole Taddei (20:25.4) finished 1-2 as Lakeview placed five girls in the top nine to cruise to the team title, 23-64, over Champion.
LaBrae's Peggy Nichols was third, followed by Champion's Michelle Bafunno and Lakeview's Ashley Tonkovich.
Northeastern Athletic Conference
LORDSTOWN -- Lordstown senior Tom Andriko ran a personal-best time of 16:51 to finish first, but Maplewood placed three runners in the top 10 to edge the Red Devils for the team title, 45-48.
Chaz Rice placed fifth, Rubin Plant was sixth and Steve Barnhart was 10th for the Rockets, who have won back-to-back Division III state titles.
Southington's Ryan Gilanyi was second, while Badger teammates Aaron Titus and John Miller finished 3-4.
Girls
Maplewood's Ro Rupe placed third behind Pymatuning Valley's Tracee Gruskiewicz and Badger's Samantha Bonar to help the Rockets edge Badger 32-44 for the girls team title.
Bristol teammates Jen Armour and Audrey Mayhew finished 4-5.
