Software school graduates 1st class
EAST LIVERPOOL -- NewLife Academy of Information Technology, a software development school that opened here in May in cooperation with Youngstown State University, graduated its first class of five students Monday.
The new graduates will begin work immediately at Soaring Eagle, Inc., an affiliated software development company also located in East Liverpool. They can be employed there for up to two years to gain experience as part of the cooperative arrangement between the school and business.
Soaring Eagle is renovating a building at 114 W. Fifth St. where officials expect eventually to employ 300 information technology professionals within three years.
Craig Newbold and Lawrence Deidrick, who founded the school and IT company, hope to offer their services to businesses as a low-cost alternative to outsourcing technology jobs to other countries.
Registrations are being accepted now for a second class, to begin early in 2005. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and an aptitude with computers. Applications are available at the academy offices, 139 W. Fifth St., East Liverpool. For more information call the school at (330) 386-0445 or log on to www.NewLife-Academy.us.
