ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Newton Falls, Braceville continue joint district talks

NEWTON FALLS -- Newton Falls and Braceville Township are furthering the negotiations on their Joint Economic Development District agreement.
A main point of the negotiations is Newton Falls' changing its water district to service some residents in Braceville Township.
"They have the land, we have the utilities. It's a good combination for both parties involved," said city council member Steve Stevens.
"The dialogue last week went very well. It'll be good for the both of us," said city manager David Watson.
Watson said another important part about upcoming negotiations will be the ownership of an entrance pipe, which would let the city of Newton Falls accept sewage from Braceville Township residents.
The talks began after a request from Braceville trustees back in June. Shortly after, both groups voted to enter into a JEDD agreement.
Also on Monday, council appointed member Eric Thompson to meet with other leaders from Braceville, Southington, Warren and Farmington townships. The group, headed by state Sen. Marc Dann of Liberty, D-32nd, is working on a long-range comprehensive study about community growth.
The group came together after noticeable trends in growth to the south and to the east of Cleveland. Their goal is for all the communities involved to formulate an area-wide comprehensive plan.
