CHAMPION TOWNSHIP Trustees' actions
Champion Township trustees met Monday and:
Announced that trick or treat for Champion will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
Heard Police Chief Dennis Steinbeck recommend appointing Matthew J. Paul, 4924 Jonathan Lane, as a reserve police officer pending results of physical and drug screening.
Heard Steinbeck report that Trumbull County 911 received 415 calls from the township in September. Officers made one felony arrest and nine misdemeanor arrests. They also issued three driving under the influence citations and 45 traffic citations during the month.
Introduced new Road Superintendent Ron Hickox. He noted that all roadside mowing and road sealing for the season has been completed.
Heard Fire Chief Lewis Austin report that new windows were installed at the fire station last month. He also said he'd be passing out the book "Fire Safety for Kids" to all the children of the Champion schools.
Announced that John Ghindia, zoning inspector, had retired effective Friday.
Named Rhonda Fonce interim inspector. She had been the assistant inspector.
Kept cemetery rates the same for township residents but increased the price of a burial plot from $400 to $475 for nonresidents.
