America is setting dangerous precedents

America is setting dangerous precedents
EDITOR:
What kind of precedent, for America, do we set if we allow a president and his administration to lie and take us to war -- and then we elect him again?
A very powerful man once said, "Voice or no voice, people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they're being attacked, and then denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger!" That's exactly what happened! Bush has even gone so far as to say John Kerry (and therefore his supporters) are exposing America to danger! How is this allowed to go on?
They even have their own personal mouthpiece (Fox News). Eighty percent of the people who primarily watch Fox News still believe Saddam had a connection to 9/11!
It outrages me that no one is doing anything about this. I'm 20 years old. I'm the one who has to inherit this $7 trillion dollar deficit! My generation is going to have to repair America's image in the world! I'm the one who has to apologize to the Iraqis for my country dropping depleted uranium bombs and poisoning their people and their lands.
If you think it's too far to liken this administration unto the Nazi's then you should know that the quote above was from Hitler's reich-marshall. And just like this administration, the Nazis too claimed to come in the name of God!
If you could possibly believe that our current path and the leaders taking us there are going to make you safer, you've been severely deceived, my friend. They're a Machiavellian style regime.
In the name of "security" they have stripped us of our constitutional rights. The Patriot Act and its sequel allow the government to search your house and never make it known that they did. It allows government to search your records (from the movies you rented when you were 10, to your school records, and everything else) and use them to denounce you as an "enemy." Regardless of whether you actually committed a crime, government is now allowed to detain you, waive your right to a trial, and deport you out of the country.
Oh yeah, Bush also signed a law making his and his father's records permanently "confidential." How's that for equality? His records are private and yours aren't. Awesome!

It's about trade and jobs
EDITOR:
Global trade under the current rules supported by the Bush administration is costing Ohio thousands of jobs. It also puts downward pressure on wages and reduces the standard of living for all working people. It doesn't have to stay that way -- John Kerry supports changes in NAFTA and future trade agreements that will help level the playing field and bring jobs back to Ohio.

There are many ways to show that you value life
EDITOR:
Some have tried to fool members of the Catholic Church into believing that they must in & quot;good faith & quot; vote against John Kerry and for the re-election of President Bush.
As a person who believes in and supports the sanctity of life, I have concluded that from his days of realization of the Vietnam mistake till the present, Sen. Kerry has been guided by core values held by many people of good will. I dare say that if we were to check various works and decisions and votes we would see that his giftedness and talents (as well as his wife's) reflect work for peace and justice to the poor and the young and the old and less fortunate people.
No candidate is perfect, but some do give us hope that they will work for justice, which smoothes the way to peace. Let us not be fooled by the same old promises used as & quot;wedge issues. & quot; Also, we must change horses in the middle of the stream if the old horse broke it's leg and a fresh horse is ready to kerry us across!
