PENNSYLVANIA Police arrest 2 men on cocaine charges

One man swallowed suspected crack cocaine when approached by an officer.
SHARON, Pa. -- Police said they arrested two men in separate cases involving suspected crack cocaine.
Timothy A. Crawford, 20, of Malleable Street, was picked up in the 200 block of Mesabi Street after an officer on patrol saw him throwing something on the ground as the police car approached around 3 a.m.
The officer got out of his car and approached Crawford and spotted a small plastic bag containing what turned out to be 12 rocks of suspected crack cocaine lying on the ground.
Crawford is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned before District Justice Ruth French and lodged in Mercer County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Followed tip
Police said they had a tip that Joseph Moss, 64, of Quinby Street, would leave his home in the morning, buy crack cocaine and then walk back home.
An officer on patrol spotted Moss walking toward his home around 7:30 a.m. Saturday and engaged him in conversation from the cruiser.
When the officer told Moss he was suspected of buying crack cocaine, Moss, who was carrying something in his hand, raised his hand to his mouth and swallowed something.
The officer got out of the car and noticed a white residue on Moss's hand and suggested that it might be crack.
Moss said it wasn't and then licked his hand clean, police said.
Police said the officer then found several small rocks of suspected crack in Moss' shirt pocket.
He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released. Police said he will be sent a summons to appear for arraignment.
