Missing man found dead
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said a missing elderly borough man, whose disappearance prompted a widespread search of the area, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a wooded area off Old Mill Road in Liberty Township. There was no evidence of foul play in the death of Floyd P. Coyer, 83, of Jackson Street, police said. Search teams, some using dogs, combed the area late Friday and again Saturday, discovering his body around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Vandalism at business
YOUNGSTOWN -- Paint balls were shot at a building, truck and sign at 1422 E. Midlothian Blvd. over the weekend, reports show. The phone directory lists the business as Six Eighty Auto Sales. The vandalism was discovered at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police: Man died in sleep
SHEAKLEYVILLE, Pa. --Pennsylvania State Police said a man camping at Vacationland Campground in Deer Creek Township died of natural causes in his sleep. Gary P. Focer Sr., 58, of Pittsburgh, went to bed around 11 p.m. Friday and was found dead around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
Boy in fair condition
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A 17-year-old Enon Valley resident was in fair condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh early today after a one-car crash. Pennsylvania State Police said Scott Lee Gwin of Mount Air Road lost control of his 1998 Dodge sport truck on a curve on Covert Road, near Pa. Route 108 in North Beaver Township at 2:20 a.m. Sunday. Police said the truck hit a tree, went airborne and crashed into a second tree.
Burglary at restaurant
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- El Canelo Restaurant on Wilmington Road was closed for a half-day after a burglary. Neshannock Police said someone pried open the front door and opened the cash register before running off. Police were called to the restaurant at 10:15 p.m. Saturday. Police did not say how much money was taken.
Illegal immigrant
MERCER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said they apprehended an illegal Chinese immigrant during a traffic violation stop in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 in East Lackawannock Township. The stop was made around noon Friday and federal immigration authorities took the man into custody, police said.
Woman injured
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Greenville-West Salem Police said Linda Boughton of Jamestown was injured when her car veered off West Jamestown Road and hit a parked car. Boughton was headed north around 4:40 p.m. Sunday when she drove off the road, police said. She was admitted to UPMC Horizon and was listed in stable condition today.
