YWCA to honor women of the year
The event will take place Oct. 20 at Mr. Anthony's.
BOARDMAN -- The 27th annual YWCA Women of the Year awards banquet will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at Mr. Anthony's, where eight area women will be recognized with awards in two categories.
Honorees in the first category, Women of Achievement, were nominated by local businesses and organizations and selected by a panel of judges. They serve as role models and mentors to other women, and have positively impacted the community through volunteer participation in civic, business or religious organizations, community involvement and contributions.
Those to be honored and their nominating organization are:
UKaren L. Ament of Boardman, Youngstown-Columbiana Association of Realtors.
USherri H. Smith Brogdon of Youngstown, Calvary Women's Ministry.
UJudge Theresa Dellick of the Mahoning County Juvenile Court, Junior League of Youngstown.
UMary DePiore Hlebovy of Boardman, Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
UKatina Karabatsos of Canfield, Philoptochos Society of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
UJacie Ridel of Boardman, Angels of Easter Seals.
In the second category, Women of Professional Excellence, those receiving recognition were selected by their employers based on outstanding contributions they have made to their companies. They are:
UTerrie Bennett of Poland, Home Savings & amp; Loan Co.
UMariann Pacak of Campbell, Humility of Mary Health Partners.

Chairwoman of the event will be Chris Gabrick, principal with Schroedel, Scullin & amp; Bestic, CPAs. The Youngstown Connection will provide musical entertainment.
