Salem man accused of running down 2

SALEM -- A Salem man is charged with attempted murder, accused of deliberately striking two men early Thursday with a car. One of them died.
Aaron Catlin, 29, of South Union Avenue, was taken into custody Friday. He was being held at the Columbiana County Jail in lieu of bond.
He's to be arraigned at 11 a.m. Monday by video in the county's court here.
Who was struck
Marc Finley, 21, of Andrew Avenue, is in St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was in the surgical intensive care unit Friday. No report was available on his condition.
Frank E. Gardner, 24, of Aetna Street, died after being taken to Akron City Hospital. No charge has been filed in his death. Police were unavailable to comment late Friday.
Police allege Catlin ran into the two men as they walked north on North Ellsworth Avenue.
Police said there had been a verbal dispute but no fight a few minutes earlier at a nearby bar, but that people involved had left.
