Rams stay unbeaten, sail past Rockets
Levi Leigh spearheaded Mineral Ridge's 492-yard attack in a 48-14 win.
MINERAL RIDGE -- The unbeaten Mineral Ridge High football team kept its winning streak alive Friday by upending Lowellville, 48-14, in a Inter-County League game in the Rams' stadium.
The Rockets (1-5, 0-3) stayed close for a half before allowing the Rams 28 points in a breakaway third quarter.
Levi Leigh rushed for 179 yards on nine carries, which included touchdown runs of 50, 43 and 28 yards.
Also for the first-place Rams (6-0, 3-0), Micah Hall rushed 13 times for 108 yards and scored on a 9-yard run.
The Rams had 492 total yards, compared to 237 for the Rockets.
Springfield 37,Western Reserve 3
BERLIN CENTER -- Andrew Schuler completed 13 of 19 passes for 157 yards to lead Springfield to its first league win.
Julian Carabello gained 93 yards on eight carries, including touchdown runs of 25 and 35 yards for the Tigers (5-1, 1-1 ICL).
Anthony Warren's 74 yards on eight carries included a 23-yard touchdown. Matt Morell scored on a 21-yard run while Mike Sobnosky had 3-yard tally.
Aaron Wood caught six passes for 43 yards while Morell had three receptions for 67 yards.
For the Blue Devils (2-4, 0-3), Jason Markijohn booted a 33-yard field goal and Chris Truitt and David Devellin had interceptions. Shawn Bryant ran seven times for 26 of the Devils' 28 yards on the ground.
Jackson-Milton 30, Campbell 14
NORTH JACKSON -- The Blue Jays' controlled offense produced their second win in five outings.
Jackson-Milton gained 339 yards on 57 rushes, which included a pair of 1-yard touchdown by Andrew Whitmer. The Blue Jays hit on 4 of 5 passes for 30 yards.
Jackson-Milton's Adam Keck gained 131 yards on 22 attempts, which included a 11-yard TD run.
Quarterback Darrell Johnson provided most of the offense for Campbell (0-6). He rushed 19 times for 86 yards, which included runs of 10 and 1 yard. He also connected on 9 of 21 passes for 109 yards
